Our very first year of fundraising, 2004, was a huge success raising over $140,000! This enabled us to achieve many of the goals of the Foundation and make the following grants possible: $75,000 pledge to the Greenebaum Cancer Center of the University of Maryland Medical System. This contribution will be used to establish an Outpatient Infusion Treatment Area in the Roslyn and Leonard Stoler pavilion, scheduled to open in June, 2005. This treatment center will improve the physical environment for children and young adults undergoing chemotherapy. $5,000 to Camp Sunrise which sponsors five children. The camp, under the auspices of the American Cancer Society, is dedicated to providing an enjoyable camping experience to children being treated for all types of cancer. Donation to purchase a Starlight-Starbright Fun Center DVD Video Unit for the Children's Hospital of Sinai. The Starlight Fun Center is a mobile entertainment unit containing a Nintendo Game Cube, LCD television, and DVD player. Fun Centers roll right up to the side of the bed, or almost anywhere, to provide much needed play time during long hours of chemotherapy treatments. Donation to the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults to support an educational film project. 'The Road to Eden' is a documentary dedicated to early detection of colon cancer. Donation to Hopewell Cancer Support, a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing social and emotional support to individuals living with a cancer diagnosis. This specific grant will help to sponsor a Young Adult Cancer Discussion Group.
